Being creative is something most people want, but few of us feel confident about being. After all, part of the creative process feels uncomfortable, difficult and at times, frustrating.
Initially there is excitement, attraction and curiosity. Your every fibre desires to explore, to understand and to know. You are attentive, your senses awakened to nuances and subtleties.
Then the critical moment comes when you feel unsure of what to do next, when you encounter the discomfort of uncharted territory.
It is exactly at this point that you can decide whether or not to explore divergent ideas - whether to think laterally and take risks. In other words, confronting the unknown, with its accompanying anxiety, is the very birthplace of creativity.
So, I encourage you, next time you feel like you can't be creative, know that you've just reached the necessary starting place. All you need to do is trust your inherent potential and let go of the safety rail. Step into uncertainty and free-fall powerfully into the realms of infinite possibility.
