Terms and Conditions of Artist Residency
Capertee Mountain View Retreats – Artist Residency
These Terms and Conditions apply to all artists accepted into a residency at Capertee Mountain View Retreats, Bogee, NSW. By accepting a place and paying the residency fee, you agree to abide by the following conditions.
1. Residency Agreement
Residents participate in the Capertee Mountain View Retreats Artist Residency as part of a shared creative community. The program offers space and time for independent creative work in a respectful and supportive environment.
2. Fees and Payments
All residency fees are due as outlined in your acceptance email or invoice.
A $50 key deposit and $300 bond are payable at the commencement of your residency.
The bond and key deposit will be refunded within 7 days of departure, provided the accommodation and facilities are left clean, undamaged, and as found.
Sliding Scale of Fees
Residency fees are means-tested to ensure accessibility for artists of varying financial circumstances. Applicants are asked to nominate their fee level honestly and in good faith.
The sliding scale operates on a trust basis to make the residency possible for all artists, regardless of income.
3. Cancellation Policy
The following cancellation terms apply:
More than 2 weeks before the residency: Full refund, less an administration fee of $50.
Less than 2 weeks prior: Unfortunately, no refund is available; however, an alternate date for a future residency will be offered where possible.
In the event that Capertee Mountain View Retreats must cancel the residency due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. natural disaster, health order, or other event beyond control), all payments will be refunded in full.
4. Accommodation and Facilities
Residents agree to:
Provide their own food and linen (sheets and towels).
Maintain cleanliness in their accommodation and shared spaces, leaving them in the same condition as found.
Respect shared facilities, including kitchens, bathrooms, and studios, by cleaning up after use.
Use tank water and the septic toilet system responsibly, being mindful that both are limited resources in a rural setting.
Be considerate of others by keeping noise to a minimum and respecting the tranquillity of the retreat.
5. Community Participation
The residency includes an element of participation in the daily rhythm of the property. Residents agree to take part in light farm or maintenance tasks as part of their stay — such as watering plants, collecting kindling, or helping maintain communal areas. These activities help foster connection, shared responsibility, and community spirit.
6. Conduct and Safety
Residents are expected to behave with respect and consideration toward others, the property, and the surrounding environment.
Smoking is not permitted inside any buildings.
Open fires are permitted only in designated fire pits and subject to local fire restrictions.
Pets must be pre-approved and supervised at all times.
Residents are responsible for their own safety and belongings during their stay.
7. Liability
Capertee Mountain View Retreats and its operators accept no liability for loss, injury, or damage to persons or property during the residency. Residents are encouraged to hold personal insurance covering their equipment, health, and travel.
8. Agreement
By submitting your application, paying your residency fee, and attending the program, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions and the Artist Residency Cancellation Policy.
