Just a couple of days till Spring officially arrives and warmth and colour are abounding! New shoots and blossoms burgeon as birds flit busily tending nests and creatures are roused.
Amid this rising energy, the months of my labour are coming to fruition with paintings going up at Everglades, easels and paint being prepared for Capertee and the final touches being made to the Evoking the Elements programme.
I would love to see you at the opening of Colours of the Country on Saturday 7th September in Leura. Fellow exhibitor, Owen Thompson and I will share insights and answer questions about our work at 1.30 pm. Refreshments will be served and the entry fee to the Gardens is waived for the occasion.

In addition, I am thrilled to have a lovely group of people coming to the Capertee Painting Retreat on the October long weekend. It promises to be a wonderful experience and there are still spots for one or two more. Partners are welcome to come along. There is plenty to do in the spectacular valley including bushwalking, bird watching and tours of the old shale-mining ghost town of Glen Davis. Check out all the information or email me to see the program and materials list in detail.
Finally, I am excited to have finished the paintings for the concert exhibition collaboration, Evoking the Elements, in Melbourne in October. They explore and interpret the imagery, energy and themes of the selected musical compositions and their evocation of the elements in nature.
Every day, on my walks in the bush, I see beauty, decay and renewal - the effects of elemental forces. Earth, air, fire and water constantly experience change and adaption. I witness nature seeking equilibrium and balance and offering metaphors for life… trees flooded, still reaching for the sky; verdant new shoots flourishing from a fire-blackened trunk; autumn leaves falling to sustain life… each occurrence seems to express joy, hope, loss and longing.
Below are some of the new paintings in this series. Tickets for the performances are on sale here.
