Everyone has their own handwriting style and so too with paint. Do you feel unsure of how to develop your own painting style? Do you want to explore your self-expression using a range of mark-making techniques? In this workshop, I will guide you to tap into your intuitive and personal ‘voice’. Using your chosen subject matter, I will introduce you to a range of techniques to enhance your paintings.

You will learn how to:
• Approach your subject matter creatively to plan a painting
• Expressively apply paint using your personal gesture (like your unique handwriting, but in paint)
• Create balanced, interesting and engaging compositions using the elements of design
• Use a range of brushes and painting knives to stipple, scumble, blend etc.
• Experiment with washes, glazes and dry brush to build up an image
• Understand the value and limits of photographic source material
• Know how and when to edit and take new directions with an image
• Finish/resolve a painting
• Understand how to develop your work at home
We will work in my studio, in the lower Blue Mountains where I will share my expertise and passion with you. No matter what your level or experience, you will develop your own style and ability to create paintings using a range of mark-making, equipment and techniques. You will also connect with like-minded and interesting people.

WORKSHOP TIMES AND DATES
The workshop will run Sunday 26 February, 9.30 am – 4.30 pm with lunch and refreshments provided on-site.
LOCATION
My studio is in Blaxland, NSW 2774, which is in the lower Blue Mountains. The exact address will be sent a few days prior to the workshop.
COURSE OUTLINE
9.30 am Arrive and set up in Corinne’s Studio, Blaxland, NSW, 2774
· Introduction to the art of working intuitively
· Warm-up sketching – getting in touch with your right brain
· Demonstration of gestural mark-making, layering an image
· Explanation of various brushes, grounds, mediums and other tools
· Discussion of compositional devices and the use of photographic source material
· Individual work on chosen subject matter practising these techniques
12.30 – 1 pm Lunch
· Painting with individual instruction and assistance
2.45 pm Explanation on resolving and finishing a painting
4 – 4.30 pm Conclusion and appraisal
