Have you ever wondered why certain colour combinations seem to vibrate or ‘sing’ together? Or why others just jarr, or look lifeless and dull?

This day-long workshop will unveil the mysteries of colour relationships. You will learn how to identify, mix and use different hues, colours, tints and shades with greater confidence. Corinne will guide you to arrange your palette effectively, to embrace colour schemes and understand the role of intensity.

Art materials are supplied, however you can bring your own favourite brushes or colours if you wish.

You will also learn how to:

• Use coloured grounds to activate your image

• Mix a FULL range of colours using a basic palette

• Use colour mixing to make subtle changes in mood and energy in a painting

• Understand the symbolism and universal meanings of colour

• Model form and perspective with colour

• Select a colour scheme to achieve the ‘keynote of feeling’ you want in a painting

We will work in my studio in Blaxland and I will share my expertise and passion with you. Whether you are starting out or an experienced painter, you will definitely develop your ability to work successfully with colour. You will also connect with like-minded and interesting people.

LOCATION

My studio is in Blaxland, NSW 2774, which is in the lower Blue Mountains. The exact address will be sent a few days prior to the workshop.

COURSE OUTLINE

9.30 am Arrive and set up in Corinne’s Studio, Blaxland, NSW, 2774

·      Introduction to the colour wheel

·      Collage Activity

·      Explanation of primary, secondary, tertiary, analogous and complementary

·      Discussion of hue, value and intensity

·      Modelled mixing and experimenting

·      Complete exercises on warm and cool, perception and perspective

·      Individual work on chosen subject matter practising these techniques

·     Understand colour schemes, their use and symbolic resonance

12.30 – 1 pm Lunch

·      Painting with individual instruction and assistance

2.45 pm Explanation on resolving and finishing a painting

4 – 4.30 pm Conclusion and appraisal
